Recently I went on a cruise and took some pics from my mobile phone, the XiaoMi Mi 2s.
No filters were applied in post.
Not too bad for a tiny sensor, eh?
Someone recently told me off during lunch in a haughty and sarcastic tone that there was no difference between film/video and taking a photo ... And that I couldn't be all that tired as all I did was press the record button of my video camera.
Well, I didn't work on the film below but I am posting it so that people can see what actually goes on behind the scenes...
... not every film/video has VFX or a large cast or huge budgets but they still go through the same pre-pro, principal filming and post processes where things frequently don't go as planned and there are thousands of things to manage during the frantic 12 hour or sometimes 16 hour days for days or weeks on end.
So whenever you watch a film or video on cinema screens or national TV, you're actually watching a piece of art created by teams of people, many of whom are extremely passionate about their craft, be they talents or crew.
Rant mode over.
And here's the completed film, do check it out. If you have a fast connection, do watch it in 1080p.
btw, a Singaporean Lau Kia Hau worked on this blockbuster short as "Visual Effects Supervisor" !!!
Trying to create Arnold the Teminator, for practice ... :)
Arnold with Glasses
hmmm ... let's try to improve it and create a longer animation clip! :)
On November 10, Singaporean Hindus will celebrate Deepavali while people in North and South India celebrate Dewali. But I'm told they essentially the same - The Festival of Lights.
p.s. If I got this wrong, please let me know.
So here's something I created, an early Diwali present for those who celebrate it and for those who enjoy bangra style music.
I present my creation: "Diwali Joy".
Like it? you can download it and use it for your photo montage or videos for your friends and family. Or just play it during your Dewali celebrations.
